unrelated- why and how has logging in to Audiogon become more complicated than logging into social security or my mortgage provider??? Enough already with captcha and dual athuentication.
No, the records won't be worth a premium over the already outrageous prices averaging $40 a record. Vinyl is a total rip off imo and my experience. 5k for just a "decent" turntable, $1500 for a "cheap" MC cartridge" $800 for an entry level phono pre amp, $200 in basic cleaning tools- or- $1000-$5000 for a record cleaner - and in the end? Shitty recordings with limited dynamic range, surface noise, pops and clicks - no ability to skip tracks from your chair and - spend $40 to find out if you like the recording, like the music and the pressing is decent or better. Nope. I stopped after sinking 7k into just getting set up and buying 50 $40 records. Total waste of money- I don't care how loudly other audiophiles scream that vinyl sounds better- it doesn't and I've got some serious high end gear set up correctly. Save your money. |
@speedthrills If I sunk $7K into shitty recordings with limited dynamic range, surface noise, pops and clicks I'd be pissed too. Perhaps you are shopping in the wrong store? "No ability to skip tracks from your chair". This one is on you. If this was a requirement you should have figured out vinyl wasn't for you from the get go and saved $7K. |
