Which Cartrudge For My Upcoming Technics 1200 GR 2 Turnable - Looking at Ortofon 2m Black

I have a Luxman 595 Class A amplifier with Focal N1 speakers. Depending on the recording, it can be on the bright side. I own about 20 records. 80% of them are electronic mixes from the 90s. The rest are dinosaur jr, mazzy star, and so on.
I have found memories of playing my grandfathers fisher turntable (with Mitsubushi stereo system) which looked similar to the Technics 1200GR2, so that is the turntable I am going to get. I also have found memories of going to the record store in the 90s (sound warehouse) and they had a Bose 901 VI system (I think... they were very large hung from the cieling) with a turtable that sounded so good.
The sound I am looking for is *not a audiophile high resolving sound. Instead, I am looking for a energetic sound with power. I do want good audio quality though.
What I am looking at is the Ortofon 2m Black LVB 250 or the 2m black. I never hear them in person. What is everyones thoughts?
Am I correct in thinking you are driving a $600 pair of bookshelf speakers with a $10,000 integrated amplifier (Luxman 595)? Using a multi thousand dollar TT ? first thing I’d recommend is to upgrade your speakers. They’re good for what they are but the other components deserve better. Also, from my reading, 30W is the class A power band . They 595 can do 90W in class AB operation, and if the MM stage supplies 50db gain, you’re likely ok with a 2mV cartridge output. |

Question to everyone, please... I thought this would be simple but just like everything in Hi Fi it’s complicated. Are there any on line stores that allow you to buy carts to try and return if it does not sound good? I hate buying just to try and selling used. It’s so painful.

Sure Bill : “ do your research “ is slang for reading about stuff… often repeating <>€£%### others with no real world experience have posted. the excellent Black in its many variants is a good example. The AT ART series another. A high output MC defeats the purpose… but that horse has been shot before…. |
@dman777 if it were me I would try to establish a relationship with a dealer who knows your speakers inside n out if synergy is the goal. Thom at Galiber while not a Focal dealer is in my opinion a great resource |
