Magnepan LRS+ and WiiM Amp

I currently run my Qualio IQ (89 dB, 4 Ohm) speakers with a WiiM Amp both for music and it is also connected to the TV via HDMI. The WiiM amp runs them very well. Recently listened to the Magnepan LRS+ at a friend's house and was really surprised witht the clarity of sound. Since then have been thinking of getting a pair. The only place I think where I can keep the Magnepans is in the TV room to provide space both sides and I am limited to using the WiiM Amp due to the HDMI feature. Looking for advice/experience on pairing the LRS+ with the WiiM Amp.

thanks

@yyzsantabarbara why are you against having speakers near your tv? Are you still worried their magnets will mess with the crt guns?

@ericrhodes1

It is because of reflections. I will hear those reflections and that usually causes fatigue. It has happened 100% of the time I tried a TV in various homes and rooms. I would rather use my RAAL SR1a earphones if I had to have a TV in the same room. Actually, I would not even have a 2-channel system them. I would just go with the SR1a.

Gotcha 🤣 I get reflections off the bare wall between my speakers. Unless you have absorption panels there, it's Not much different than a flat screen.

@g2the2nd thanks. the link you sent- it seems doesn't exist. What song/album is it? Yes I am into jazz. though only recently.

@yyzsantabarbara @g2the2nd had a couple of friends over last night. Did a comparison of the LRS+ with the IQs.Listened to three songs: Money For Nothing, Mining For Gold (CJs) and Night Train (Christian McBride).

Yes Qualio has more bass and much louder at the same level on the amp. The LRS+ are for c. EUR1k and the IQs c. EUR 6k. The difference was there but not 6x. I would say 1.5-2.0x. Of course the looks of IQs stump and stun most. My wife loves them too- looks only. The Magnepans - if you haven't seen them before are always a talking point.

i agree with the others... the wiim class d will work with the maggies but doubtful it will let the speakers shine

get a good class a/b amp at 100 wpc or thereabouts (like an older hegel or musical fidelity if you're on a tighter budget)
