Which player for Accuphase c2900 and a75 original esoteric k01 or an Accuphase

I have the house sound of Accuphase  C 2900 paired with a 75 amplifier, it is sweet, but somewhat rolled off at the extremes,, I would be very very appreciative if you guys that know more than me would comment on the benefits of adding the esoteric   K0 1. original ,,or possibly the DP 720 or 750  I’m looking for a little bit more bass definition and do not want to get caught up too deep in the romance thanks in advance again for any help Barry

Hello Barry,

As you no doubt know, there are a ton of variables at play with your gear/ system that could cause your perception of “rolled off at the extremes”. Cables, speakers, room, etc all work in harmony/ or not, and can lead to softness, hardness etc. I have the C-2900 preamp into a P-7500 amp and with either Sonus Faber Maxima Amator or ATC SCM40 speakers, the sound is never anywhere near what I would call rolled off. I ordered a DP-770 (hopefully arrives soon) and I’m really looking forward to completing the Accuphase stack. I’m blown away by Accuphase gear but have learned in this system, just like any other, that cables definitely matter as well. So maybe you can get some air and extension by different cables. Just a thought. I would stick with Accuphase because the gain will be perfectly matched.

Talk about quick response I really appreciate that my friend I am going to take your advice. I am using Cardis golden Cross, which I know is dated, but it’s on the soft side as you will know,,, I have the center logistic research absolute reference speaker cable circa 2000ish which is very good, but it’s really a hassle to deal with that stuff, exactly the reason I’m not using the same interconnect. There is no way to move your back back on casters. These mature Wisteria vines stick out the back and are about as flexible as a piece of cast-iron, I’ve been thinking about getting some acoustic Zen interconnect as I am presently using the crescendo speakers, I have a brand new pair of usher TD 20s I haven’t gotten out of the box yet, I would appreciate your thoughts. I also have a 2 m pair of Klee acoustics balanced, which is quite revealing anyways I can’t thank you enough for your help. By the way I owned a pair of those Sonus favor extremist and the Electa amateurs loved  both of them ,,, traded them and some cash for some Eggleston works Anda  SE mark three kept about six months and sent them to a chap in England they didn’t do much for me, when you get a chance, my friend just give me a recommendation on not too expensive interconnect and speaker cable I will be redundant and thank you again, sir👍👍

I subscribe to these wise words! (I mean, @audiopacer 's). Also, I would like to add that I have listened to an older Accuphase DC37 dac at length, in my own system, and while it was well extended both ways and the sound was musical, refined, sweet and romantic, the bass was plentiful and the bass definition was not its strongest asset. Also, it felt a bit overly polished and polite. DC37 is very very similar to the dac section in the DP-720 so this SACD player in particular doesn’t seem to be what you are looking for IMO.

Thank you donquichotte , I will certainly remember this ,,, did own  a dp 75. DAC  and trans 90 and 91    550 and 560 THROUGH THE YEARS ,,,  I suppose will be going to either 750 or 770 ,,,, many thanks for your expertise ,,, I actually enjoyed the 550 over the 560 for red book
