Wondering when was the last time you’ve dealt with a local repair shop…sounds like never…

That's the thing, when you fix and restore your own gear there are not many opportunities to deal with repair shops. So, you have a point there.

Still, with a little empathy, it's not too hard to imagine how a harried, overworked repair person might react to various kinds of customer attitudes. 

When I drop off one of my cars at the local mechanic, I always say take your time, work on it at your leisure (especially when the repair promises to be dreadful) because a) I mean it, and b) even if I corner him into committing to a deadline I won't get my car back any faster anyway.
