Schiit Yggy DAC is . . . wow

I have been chasing a digital sound for about 10 years and I finally found it. Sprung for a Schiit Yggdrasil DAC (Less is More option) and I haven't been able to get off my couch since I set it up. I have Spatial Open Baffle M5 speakers and I never knew how good they could sound until now. My streamer is a Wiim Ultra, which allowed me the budget for the $2,200 DAC. I have to sing the praises of this DAC. Wanted to recommend it to anyone who might be looking for a streaming upgrade. Don't listen to anyone saying all DACs sound the same. If that were true, I'd be outdoors shooting baskets right now instead of glued to my couch, listening to every playlist I own to hear it again for the first time.

When the Schiit YGGY+ LIM DAC arrived, I was genuinely impressed (shocked is a better word) by its sound quality.  It delivered sound quality that exceeded my expectations and, more important, sounded better than my current DAC.

The LIM DAC setup was easy, though I do wish the input symbols were larger and easier to read.  I use one USB input from my Infigo Auto IS-1 Streamer (uses Audiovana) and one Toslink input from my LG OLED TV.

The addition of the SCHIIT YGGY+ LIM DAC to my audio system has substantially improved my sound quality. I immediately noticed my system sounds much better.   The music is clearer, bass is more powerful, and imaging has improved.  I like it very much.

Currently listening to an 11 year old Yggy. If somebody has a better DAC within $10k I’m listening.

Some have wondered if I was on the payroll for Schiit since I post so much about their gear. I have had the following Yggi DACs

  • Yggi+ LIM
  • Yggi+ MIB
  • Yggi+ OG
  • Yggi Singular (or Byggy)

They all sound different. Even Schitt says that on their web site and the way Schiit describes it is how I hear it.

The LIM is rolled off and could be a great match with brighter speakers. Superb bass. I used it with the bright RAAL SR1a earphones which could also use a bass boost.

The MIB is not rolled off but it lacks a bit of the excitement that I want,

The OG is a wonderful DAC, and I am shocked I sold it, but it was the right move. It is the Original Gangster (OG).

The Byggy is the most revealing a realistic sounding DAC of all the Yggi's I owned. I loved the preamp, ForkBeard, the 3 analog outputs and the fact that it could be turned off without having to have a long time for the DAC to settle back to top form.

I sold the Byggy because I got the imersiv D-1 and that does everything the Byggy does but much much better. This DAC is the one that people are now discovering and a lot are buying. The MSRP on this DAC is $12k. Send me a DM if you want more info on it. I have a thread on A'gon about my discovery of this DAC.

Welcome to the Schiity way...

I ran a blind A/B comparison with a Cadillac MSB and a yggdrasil sometime ago. 3 out of the 4 guys in it repeatedly picked the yggdrasil.

Your wallet didn't get robbed and..... You can do a secret laugh now or a very wide grin  cheekus maximus, when you see a msb or dcs guy.

If you can match the yagdrassil they will perform. I have the gungnir Iam using Cambridge cxc as transport , this combo sound good, when I use my Raysonic 238 as transport the gungnir sound went to the next level. I did not know it is this good.
