Thanks for filling me in, gentlemen. It seems like half the threads end up going off the rails and become pissing matches. Some threads have more deleted comments than actual comments pertinent to the topic. It really gets old.
As a teenager I saw Country Joe and the Fish at Central Park in NYC back in the late sixties. It might have been a free concert. Can’t remember for sure. You don’t see many of those anymore.
Anyway, an online article a few years ago pointed out the Central Park concert was the first time The Fish and Country Joe ever broke out the "Fish cheer". As a participant, can I claim to be part of history? RIP Joe.
I saw so many great concerts during that era, even Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity or pleasure to see Country Joe & the Fish. Electric Music for the Mind and Body provides some of my fondest memories from my early teenage years. I bought a N/M reissue copy about 5 years ago and have it now placed in my album rotation area, probably to play it by today or tomorrow. Once again, my system will be a time machine (which it often is, for me). RIP Country Joe McDonald.
“ well come on all you big strong men Uncle Sam’s got himself in a terrible jam way down yonder in Vietnam “ …..insert new country ; Iran for now . Safe travels country Joe .
