B55 and lightweight platter lenco tables

I can't find any references to the B55 on here and am wondering thoughts on this model or other "lightweight platter" designs vs. the the heavy ones that most people get, like the L75. Is the performance difference such that these aren't worth it?

I think I've read that they have the same motors and idler wheels, and the difference is just the platter?

Any thoughts. I'm thinking of going to lenco route to replace my Music Hall MMF-2.

thanks.

I just acquired a Lenco B55 with Shure cartridge & custom plinth + cash in trade for my Ariston RD80SL table /Jelco arm and absolutely love it!  I love the simplicity of it and it sounds terrific.  I never heard a Lenco before but am extremely pleased.

I love my much upgraded L75, but the only caveat in relation to the B55 would be in relation to its ferrous platter and MC cartridges.

Actually, I have a low end Audio Technica cartridge on it.  Which cartridge are you using on your L75?  And what would be a good budget MM cart for the B55?

I generally don't think about matching a cartridge to a TT. Rather, I match cartridges with tonearms.  However, if you are talking about a cost related match, and in terms of an MM, I would think about the Shure V15 in its latest iteration with an SAS stylus.  I am not crazy about the V15 but others here are.  I do love the Grace Ruby especially with a Soundsmith stylus.  I also like high output MI cartridges. AT make some great MMs of which I know nothing, but read the archives of this site for which ATs to think about.  Good luck.
