Need Amp Advice from the Collective

What amps are a synergistic fit with Maggie LRS+ that won't break my 76 year old back? I am currently using a Bryston 3B3, which at ~300 watts > 4 ohms has gobs of power, certainly more that I use, but it is a bit clinical, lacks midrange magic, is a tad bright, and could image better. See my profile for the rest of the system.

Pass Labs XA30.8 or X150.8, or Coda No.16 are obvious choices, and I'm certain they would sound great. But they are all 90-110 pounds! I wonder about some of the lower powered Coda's (S5.5, S150, S20) if they would have enough to fire up the Maggies? Comments?

I have been down the Class D road, and while they certainly have their charms, I don't think they will produce the magic I want.

My room is kind of large at 25 x 25 x 8, but the listening area is about 1/4 of that with the speakers about 8-10 feet from my listening position.

Thanks in advance!

Hello markmuse.  Stark Sound Fiera 4, great price, superb performance (smoother on top than the Purifi), huge power in the 2 channel mode, returnable if you don't like it. How can yo lose?  Enjoy the music!

@markmuse You are probably right, I don't know your speakers.  What I can share is that I have a C-J ART 27A, which is a class A amp and I compared it to the amp section in my Marantz PM10, class D, using my C-J ART 88 line stage and the Marantz compared very well into my speakers, Sony SS AR2.  Those speakers are not a particularly difficult load and obviously your speakers, room, listening habits and so on are different.  That is why I suggested you give a listen if you could in your own environment.  When I bought the Marantz amp, the dealer told me that he felt it sounded better driving B&W 802s (the speaker I use the amp with) than any other he sells (Levinson, McIntosh, Technics (class D) among others.  Again, this is personal preference.  You need to listen to some stuff and pick the amp that sounds best to you.  But forget what class it is and try to find a source to allow trials at home.

Seems the OP wants tube warmth as GanFet is not warm enough and sliding bias amps like Boulder or Krell may be out of budget. Maybe a tube preamp+SS amp?
