What to do with very low offer on an item for sale

I am pretty new to selling on Audiogon and with a component I have received an offer of 25% of the price; I had chosen a price, including shipping, at the low end of what I have seen on HiFi shark.

If someone with more experience than I could help; do I ignore it or come back with a sensible (10% perhaps) discount on my price.

Thanks for advice

@mitch2 I Googled around and it seems that Cardas changed their colors over the years.

Golden Cross were dark red at some stage, but in 1995 they were green or bleu-green with gold tips.  Golden Reference were dark red with (I think) Rhodium ends.

My cables are so old that the lettering is no more!

Your best bet is to ignore low ball offers. There are plenty of people who keep trying it so it must work some time, but it's kind of insulting.

If it’s a ridiculous offer, counter with an offer 10% higher than what you are asking.

I’ve told people I’ll donate the item before selling it anywhere near their price or just tell them I’m in no hurry in selling it. You would be surprised how many times they came back with a more reasonable offer after this.

BTW: PayPal friends and family is not as secure as you think it is. There are so many things to watch out for, you could write a small book on protecting yourself. Things drastically change when you sell overseas too. Watch out!
