Replacing Roon - What Should I get?

I'm tired of Roon having brain farts.  I have an original Roon Nucleus and have updated and augmented the Memory.  This helped for a bit.  But now, I keep having to reboot the darn thing.

It's not my network.  I have checked it out and everything in the house works fine.

Here is the setup.  A direct fiber optic link goes to the Router.  Then ethernet to Roon from the Router.  This way I get Roon to talk with the setup upstairs.  I have an 35 foot ethernet cable that runs through the walls directly from the router into my dCS Lina.

I want to replace the Roon.  I am thinking about an Innuos Stream.  Just need a streamer that can hold Roon/Tidal.  Don't need a DAC as the dCS does that quite well.  I have a SSD in the Nucleus that holds a ton of my music that I want to move over.

Thoughts on what to replace the Roon with?  Innuos (Stream) always get bandied about.  I hear about Arender as well. I don't want to get an updated Roon.

I also wonder about deleting and reinstalling the Roon App on my iPads.

Thanks in Advance

Each time I look for JPlay in the app store it shows me an app by JEJE. Can someone post a link to JPlay?

@mahler123    +1

I also have never used/heard Roon, but have seen several Audiogoners comment that it degrades sound quality.  Using Qobuz Connect and my Innuos Sense app I am able to see the liner notes on my phone and read reviews on many albums.  I can also make playlists and choose albums or tracks based on about two dozen different genres.

Does Roon add anything additional that's worth the cost, some degradation in sound quality, and apparently an added dose of frustration and hassle?

@carousel Yes, the dCS is on my main system, and the Blue Sound is upstairs in the master bedroom.  I also have the router connected to a Sonos Amp that plays in the barroom and back porch.

All, if I understand my vernacular correctly, the Roon Core is my Roon Nucleus and my endpoints are the dCS and BlueSound.  I have Roon Apps on my two iPads, phone and PC.  I am not interested in switching to Linux or a Mac system.

@speedthrills I feel your pain.  @audphile1  Ditto. I think the endless and continuous updates must be the problem.  Some work, other cause headaches.  I am not interested in updating to a more Contemporary Roon Core given my experience with them.

I really haven’t had any luck with the Roon User Forum, and yes, I have tried for multiple topics.

@passthedutchie Thank you.  As with other posts/comments, it is comforting to know that I am not alone in this issue.  I really think it is issues with Roon’s updates and operating system.  I know my Nucleus is old, but it should still work as intended. At least that is my belief.
