Vinshine X Collaboration with Kinki Studio, TheTai Hang power enhancer

What a surprise after installing the Taihang in my system,, in a word, amazing.  Stage depth clarity was amoung one of the first things I notice.  My system consists of tubes pre and power amps, with a digital and analog front end.  Tubes as we know exhibit a second harmonic noise distortion which is a given and something we live with as it’s our perception as being more musical.  Dirty power can add more nastiness to this by way of unfiltered AC.  With the addition of the Taihang it has made all the background information much more clearer.  My speakers are fairly high resolving so was able to take advantage of this additional gain the Taihang give me.  Leading edges from instruments started and stopped more precisely still retaining musicality. Black background noise seemed non existent as we like saying but in this case it really does without straining to not hear.  So clean power can do all this, seems to be!  Also will mention as in some cases experienced with power amps, I sensed no loss in dynamics or compression which is one of the biggest concerns when implementing such products.  This in my first day of listening.  So again I’ll go back to my original statement, amazing!   Alvin’s collaboration as he calls it, has some magic inside this beautifully crafted box.

Received My Tai Hang this week.  I won't be long but will be specific.  In short this was worth the $$ and a clear upgrade over the PSM156.  I did learn a bit too so here is my equipment, what I switched and what I landed on:

Equipment:
1. Holo May KTE DAC
2. Aureneder N200 Streamer
3. Arcam AV41 Preamp
4. Parsound Halo A21+ 2 channel Amp (300W x2 Class A/AB)
5&6 - 2 X SVS SB3000 Subs (800 Watt amp each sub Class D)
I will leave 2 items above in the Puritan (+ TV and Network Switch).

I  have the Tai Hang and Puritan plugged into separate 15Amp wall outlets.

I'll try to be brief.  I started with my DAC.  Switched to the Tai Hang - Tai Hang clear winner.  Better separation, quieter.  Able to turn up volume by .5-1 db on my preamp louder than normal which was a good thing.  I then switched my Preamp over.  Even better.  Same phenomenon but even more.  Music sounded liquid and I could just keep turning up the volume!  Then I plugged in the Aurender streamer.  Less dramatic but more of the same.  All three plugged in was sublime.  Then things got interesting.  I plugged in the Amp which is very beefy 300X2 Class A/AB).  I thought it sounded "good" and maybe a bit "warmer" but maybe at the expense of dynamics.  I kept going back and forth between the amp in the Tai Hang and Purtian and I liked both for different reasons.  Then I did the thing I've never done and plugged the amp into the wall directly.  TBH this was the right combo.  Tai Hang with DAC, Preamp, and Streamer all plugged in.  (I'll try my synergistic research network switch next.) Again, I can find merit to the amp plugged into both the Tai Hang (Warmer more relaxed, but losing dynamics) vs the Puritan (Brighter but more dynamic) but ultimately bypassing both conditioners and going to wall produced the most Smooth yet powerful and dynamic sound.  I do not like bright/hyper detailed sound and this combo is just gorgeous.  For now I will leave my 2 subs plugged into the Puritan until I decide to either get another tai hang or something more designed for high current subs etc.  All this said the Tai Hang was a remarkable upgrade across the DAC, Streamer and Preamp compared to the Puritan which I already loved.  Hope this helps others.

I have my TH sounding really good now, it took awhile and changing the power cord was huge.  This kind a of summery of what I sent to Wig in a PM that I just decided to post here.

I put the DSP 4.1 with  F-150 R NCF connectors in the main system on the Tai Hang. I have about 530 hours on this PC. Okay, this PC is great. It is has tinge of warmth, smooth, but all the details are there in their own space and has a live sound to it as well. The staging and imaging are very good. I never thought just one PC on the power filter could have this kind of impact. Theoretically, one would think it would be more-so impactful on the integrated, amp or a source component. It smokes the Audio Envy PC I had on the Tai Hang. I am listening to some obscure 80s new wave album from a band called Face to Face, not the best recording, but I have never heard it sound better.

@kclone

That's awesome and happy to hear DPS has made a positive impact in your system.

I listened to @wig too when I got my TaiHang. I found a  DPS 4.1 with the NCF 50 connectors used and just never looked back or tested anything else. Just assumed it was "good enough" so hearing others verify they are really good keeps me from tinkering. Thanks!

Many thanks! I'm always evaluating cables and when I find something that compete with cables costing nearly twice more, I try to let the community of music lovers know...

Enjoy the music,
