Hands down: Muddy Waters - Folk Singer
Which Record makes your system shine?
Hey All,
Been a while since I posted anything and I hope I am posting in the correct category.
So, just curious, which Vinyl Record, do you feel makes your system shine and display it's full potential?
OR, put another way, which record or records would you put on if you wanted to show off your system to someone who has not heard or seen it before?
Of course we know, not all records sound the same but for me I feel (at least on my system), it's the record: "Temptation" by Chantal Chamberland - Evosound Records
Carpenters: The Singles (forgot to check the record label).
On the other hand, I have James Taylor Greatest Hits on Vinyl and that record just sounds a bit veiled to me.
It's funny how one record can sound great and another, not that it sounds bad but just doesn't seem to have that crispness or openness to it.
System at the moment if you're wondering:
- Vincent SV-500
- Mofi Studio Desk w/Hana SL MC
- Martin Logan Motion 40 Speakers
- Sim Audio Moon 110lp V2 Phono
- Cardas Cabling
@sls883 -- Great selection from The Pineapple Thief. I also love the sound quality of 2016's "Your Wilderness", 2018's "Dissolution", and 2020's "Versions of the Truth". Fantastic albums. |
Thanks for the reply. Never noticed Margo’s lack of range though not saying you’re not correct. I think I’m drawn to ability to stir emotions with her voice. I know there are some/many that feel as you do about the Junkies - a couple that’s our closest friends literally fell asleep at a show of theirs in Nashville many years ago. I can’t rationally explain my CJ infatuation but during the many shows I’ve seen over the past 5 years I’ve concluded 1) I don’t care what they play just that they play and 2) I could attend a show of theirs every night if it was available. We won’t make the show in ATL but we do have tix for Saxapahaw (x2), Alexandria (x2), Norfolk, and Richmond in addition to Knoxville I June and we’ll attend 2 shows in Ann Arbor in March. If you wind up at the ATL show I’d be interested to hear what you think. |
