rbstehno I'd say and especially so twenty years ago, CD rips werent and aren't better, it would be the playback chain that was or is.There weren't many software solutions that ripped bit perfectly and CD players could not in themsleves produce bit perfect extraction. If you are happy with your final solution, that's great but so much has changed. I would urge you to re-appraise just a little you could be denying yourself of so much pleasure.
Streaming has its place and I have a very highly respected one, along with what I would consider to be a great turntable and an equally competent CD player (albeit vintage) but comparing form function and sonic perfomance is simply pointless rabbit hole activity. Fortunately, I have now all but grown out of it. Instead I now celebrate difference. Sometimes I like the vinyl experience sometimes CD although I do weed out as much of the dynamically compressed rubbish as I can, there are always buyers who couldn't care less but I do and I suspect many here with highy resolving systems know just how horrible these things can sound to the extent that it often ruined the music.
Streaming often amazes me and disappoints me in equal measure but its USP justfies a place in my set up as it often sets me on a wonderful journey of discovery.
Not trying to change your mind, I would support 100% your right to your opinon but I wanted to contrast yours with mine, more to underline the truth that there is no right or wrong answer, just the one that works for each and every one of us.
