Vinshine X Collaboration with Kinki Studio, TheTai Hang power enhancer

What a surprise after installing the Taihang in my system,, in a word, amazing.  Stage depth clarity was amoung one of the first things I notice.  My system consists of tubes pre and power amps, with a digital and analog front end.  Tubes as we know exhibit a second harmonic noise distortion which is a given and something we live with as it’s our perception as being more musical.  Dirty power can add more nastiness to this by way of unfiltered AC.  With the addition of the Taihang it has made all the background information much more clearer.  My speakers are fairly high resolving so was able to take advantage of this additional gain the Taihang give me.  Leading edges from instruments started and stopped more precisely still retaining musicality. Black background noise seemed non existent as we like saying but in this case it really does without straining to not hear.  So clean power can do all this, seems to be!  Also will mention as in some cases experienced with power amps, I sensed no loss in dynamics or compression which is one of the biggest concerns when implementing such products.  This in my first day of listening.  So again I’ll go back to my original statement, amazing!   Alvin’s collaboration as he calls it, has some magic inside this beautifully crafted box.

I hooked up my TH into my main system for the first time.  Prior, I had it burning in a second system(bedroom) for approximately 240 hours.  I bought a Furutech DPS 4.1 with the FI-50 R NCF connectors to use with the TH.  However, that only has about 170 hours on it so I will leave that on continuous play in the second system for a few more days.  For now I will use an Audio Envy PC for the TH.  Okay, so first impressions are is the sound  has lots of clarity, extended highs, very detailed.   Vocals on a couple of recordings were way more strident than what I was used to.  On the cover of Betty Davis Eyes (The Big 80s Guys) it is just a little too much in your face with the vocals.  But overall the TH sounded good. I have my McIntosh MA 12000 integrated plugged into.  Doesn't seem to be an issue.

I had the Audio Envy Okta Power in the system before this.  It is a more relaxed, weighty and musical sound.  If I could get those attributes plus the extension, detail and clarity of the TH, that would be great.  Or in other words combine the strengths of each.  Maybe the TH still needs some time to settle in and hopefully when I put the Furutech PC on it, it will improve.

@kclone

How's the Tai Hang settling and has the edginess been resolved?

Thanks,

Wig

yes, Wig it has.    I worried for a while, but it has settled down and now sounds well balanced instead of tilted up.  I still haven't put the Furutech DPS 4.1 with the NCF 50 Plugs on yet, I have about 432 hours on that PC, it's been burning in on my bedroom system non stop.  At what point should I put it in the main system?  600 hours?

@kclone

Since you are so close to that 600 hours threshold, keep it burning-in until then.🎶🎵

Wig👌

@kclone   Please let us know how the DPS 4.1 compares for you. I have one on my TaiHang but I put it on from the get go so I don't have any comparisons as to how it affects the TaiHang. I went off @wig 's suggestion and found a good used one.
