Which Record makes your system shine?

@thecarpathian -- You are very welcome, my friend!  The best way to listen to that album is with good headphones -- just like the other album I mentioned, Pink Floyd's "Animals".  You hear SO many additional sounds and musical notes that are just tough to pick up with floor standing or bookshelf speakers.

I have a friend whose best friend worked at the Power Station in New York and worked on "Love Over Gold".  He told me about achieving that unique sound right before the hi-hat beat begins.  If you listen with headphones, you can hear footsteps walking toward the microphone on a wooden floor and then the shuffling sound.  In the music video for the song, at the 2:55 mark, you see someone's feet actually walking on a hardwood floor as you hear the shuffling sound.  I remember watching the video on MTV in 1982 and wondering why the shot focused on boots walking at that point -- then I listened to the song through headphones and got it.  Kind of neat, I thought.

@jhnnrrs You are right as well, as I'm sure you know. My Telarc 1812 is as you say, digital. I had forgotten that. Some of these digital recordings to vinyl are very well done. Madonna "Ray of Light" is very well done. I think it's the only Madonna album that I own but the German original Warner copy on vinyl is really done and I would consider it her best work........if that means anything. 

I found some Umbrella label recordings at a thrift store, still sealed so I bought them. To me, the music was crap but it is well recorded crap. :) I do also have Canadian Brass on Umbrella and it's very good. 

I have Richard Morris Sonic Fireworks on Crystal Clear, something with brass ensemble. To me, it's good and it's D2D.

London did some nice vinyl too, so did Angel. This has all been discussion about vinyl for me as the OP asked for...........I think? But, some of my favorite CD's are on the Angel label, very well done. Sarah Brightman, if I remember riight. Some of the best RBDD's in my collection. I mostly favor HDCD for digital, haven't found the right combination for SACD yet, not sure I ever will as I think they are priced too high. RBDD and HDCD's can be had nowadays for next to nothing. With all the rage being streaming, people almost give them away at times, especially in lots. I probably will never stop buying LP's and CD's.

The Legacy Out of the Blue and New World Record are among the best recordings on vinyl I've ever heard. 

I have several of both. They are my favorite albums. But the quality is just horrible. 

Same with Zoom and Alone In the Universe. Somehow the genius can't get into a decent studio. And I do mean he is a genius, in a century he'll be more famous than Mozart.
