Jay's rooms almost done - getting nervous

I have complete faith these rooms are going to be game changing.  I can't wait to see the reference equipment. I don't understand new floors, they are so pretty all lacqered up and everything, and really cool surface designs. if you haven't seen you should take a look.  Hope no one slips and falls and don't you need a rug.

But that's not why I'm nervous, I haven't gotten my invitation to the barbecue.  I have amazing things planned that I can bring.  I know Jay's got a lot of things on his mind and he hasn't forgotten about me.

Most people think that acoustics consist only of a neutral process (buying panels)  to let the gear speak...Jay think this as most people do....

It is why i said that most people had no idea of acoustics, especially about small room ...

Acoustics is the main factor in audio, the gear is a secondar6y artefact, important for sure but with no acoustics  active control (mechanical+DSP +psycho-acoustics) any piece of gear at any price will underperform at a great extent ...

I think Jay did not consulted an architectural acoustician because it cost too much if we add this to all the rest of cost of his beautiful renovation indeed... Also his room must be designed to sell gear... it must not be too different room from his customer room...it cannot be a dedicated acoustic architectural room  like mike Lavigne for example...I can be wrong here, i did not know his budget anyway...  smiley

Between the TOP acoustic architecture possible in the world  and a living room there exist  a vast distribution of possibilities...Jay’s actual room is one and will resemble to many of his customers room...

Esthetic here must play a role... I co0ngratulate him for his two rooms ... I like them ...

but many here had beautiful dedicated rooms too ...

 Are they perfect ?

No...

 Are they optimal ?

A few are without doubt... We must be there to evaluate....

One thing is certain : Us, who are not sellers, we must pick a  specific synergetical gear system and then create a dedicated room around it to elevate it to his peak working level... At any price nevermind our budget, the rule dont change...

Jay will use his rooms to sell products...it is a bit a different situation...

I wish him luck because he invested so much...

I don't understand the epoxy floors. What is the point they're not acoustically appropriate.  And very very expensive. And now we see they've been damaged and scratched and require maintenance. Will not they be covered with rugs at some point? So incredibly heavy gear is going to be dragged across these floors? Continuously as the parade of new gear resumes.

Has it been explained?  I'm very confused.

Apparently unless we have wonderful things to say about Jay's new room we aren't allowed to express our opinions. Who needs acoustically designed rooms when you have epoxy flooring in an echo chamber? Is this a valid concern, or am I overthinking it? Unfortunately  to many of us unseasoned hobbyists, forums are a powerful educational tool offering invaluable information from seasoned and trusted experts, but just not on this particular discussion.

You are very lucky your room is absolutely perfect and cannot be criticized except for the windows which acoustically may be a problem however this is incredibly offset by the magnificent views and the location presumably in the middle of a very peaceful tranquil Woodlands environment that very few of us will ever be able to live in.

My guess is your speakers don't care much about the acoustical merits of a room because they look they can overcome any room challenges.  I'd love to know the history behind the animal skull on your wall but you probably share that only with those who are privileged enough to visit this incredible room.
