Thanks acman3! Great record by a very influential and innovative musician. And a great reminder of what a great trumpet player Don Ellis was. BTW, the link wouldn’t play for me. In case anyone else has the same issue, this one did work for me: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEbt2eXoyFI9CnolLeK9mItI7FIzv4fsT&si=x4rvZpcRZyLPYy1c |
Those cuts from Scott Robinson reminded me when back in the day my parents would give me 50¢ and I'd spend a heap of Saturdays at the movie theater matinees... Here's something off the beaten path but nonetheless a hidden jewel in it's own right. This is from the harpist and koto player Dorothy Ashby:

Ok, I don’t know how to say this...I have been finding out, for some time now that O-10 and I share a like of a lot of similar music. You all know I’m a Brazilian music freak. And after sometimes of checking Gon to see if music I want to post has already been posted, is where and when I first saw O-10 posted a ton Brazilian music. It took me a minute to put together that O-10 stands for not only the Greek musician and Argonaut but also is a reference to Black Orpheus (10) or in Portuguese, Orfeu Negro (10). So imagine my surprise, when I did a search on Gon and found this, (today). The Rubáiyát Of Dorothy Ashby - orpheus10 OP - 06-21-2016 at 02:13pm I could not be, in more better company than with all you guys (and gals) here on Jazz for aficionados. Please - all, don’t stop posting music and stuff here...
