Amazing Jazz Guitarist Antoine Boyer

Last night I watched Rick Beato’s interview with young French guitarist Antoine Boyer, whose roots are in Jazz Manouche /Gypsy Jazz but who is also strongly influenced by Mainstream Jazz (particularly piano players) and Classical music.

Beato likes to interview guitar players with phenomenal chops and Boyer is no exception in this regard. For my tastes, flashy technique alone is not very impressive. What had my jaw hanging open throughout the interview with Boyer was the sheer beauty of his playing on Gypsy Jazz,  hollow-body electric and 7 string Classical instruments.

Here is link to interview:

NOTE:

At the 23 minute mark, Boyer plays a stunning version of "My Foolish Heart", (a tune many Jazz fans will associate with the famous Bill Evans performance on "Waltz for Debby"), on the 7 string Classical.

Enjoy!

You’re welcome!

I haven't been this impressed by a guitar player for quite some time.

Interesting documentary about Antoine Boyer ...

I haven't listened to many examples of them playing together but so far, I don't find her playing particularly interesting or distinctive. What do you think?
