I would avoid your #3-5, and absolutely agree that Gary Dayton at Coherent Source Service would be a great person for an outside option.

Regarding #2, how loud is the pop? If it's not very loud you probably have nothing to worry about.

However, if this problem only started after the amp was serviced, I would think that Bryston would cover the return freight. If they haven't offered, I would ask. They are a great company.

Just to clarify, I suggested avoiding #5 because of the risk from your wife.

However, I know from experience that an upgrade to the Cubed series of Bryston amps is significant, and worth considering if you can get permission on the cost difference from selling and buying.

Greetings All.  i will not claim to be an expert on which amplifiers are best with Thiel speakers as i find one i like and try to settle into a long term relationship with it.  I have been using a Coda 16 stereo amp (class A)  with my 3.7's and have been extremely pleased.  Both the sound quality and the reliability of the unit is outstanding.  Possibly the only amps that would make me want to change are the new BAT REX amps.  I was thinking 300 mono blocks, but after the comment  from Tom (Monoblocks provide the power and channel separation, but at the expense of half the output impedance, which exacerbates the problems of low-impedance speakers like Thiels. The ideal answer is higher impedance speakers.),  I may have to consider the 500 as a stereo unit.  Thoughts from anyone here would be appreciated.

Yes still using the Stealth Audio Cables on the audio side of the house. I want to get well accustomed to the 2.4's before I go and start experimenting with other brands. I like to do small changes to make sure what I'm hearing is an improvement over my current system.

Also I'm in the process of building out my room to make it larger so dialing in will take a little longer, but its a good winter for that.

I have used the Anticables autoformers and cables, still have them in a Birdseye Maple finish. A friend recommended using them to bring out the midrange some. I was planning to give them a shot with the 2.4's to see how well they performed and if they are worth the trouble. I used their Anti-cable for a short while but preferred the Stealth Hybrid MLT's.

Right now I've been using the Stealth Dream Petite speaker cables with really good results on the 2.4SE's

Just for thoroughness I use Stealth Metacarbons from my components to the preamp and a long run of Stealth GS50/50 from the preamp to the amp. The carbon in the interconnects has an organic touch to the presentation.

I prefer short speaker cable runs to the speakers, like 4 to 6 ft at the most, to me there's less cable interaction in the short runs, hence the monoblocks.

I believe that cables are only an enhancer of a system to bring out more of the systems flavor to your liking, kind of like salt and pepper or the extra chili powder added to chili because bad chili is just bad chili.

I can't say if I will change the cables that I'm already using but I don't mind trying because in the end its all about getting good music recreated in our rooms to listen to. 

P.S. Just for reference I make my own chili powder but not my own cables, I leave that to the professionals.

Running around the wife, I Wish the cost difference was close, but I don't think I'm going to get much for a 20yo 14BSST with a pop. Though I might be able to find a used 14B3 if I wait long enough.

At the same time, have you heard the class 4 Brystons? Im not looking now, but at some point was wondering if its worth changing the 6BSST I have (center and rears)? I have the MCS1 for center and 2.4 for my back channels. Can't really complain with the 6BSST.
