Denafrips Iris

Does the Iris DDC elevate the performance of the Denafrips Enyo 15th to

another level, or a more subtle change?

My current configuration
Fiio SR11 Network Streamer with Sbooster LPS usb out to
Denafrips Enyo 15th rca to
Belles Aria Two Integrated
Vandersteen VLR CT Speakers
Audioquest power conditioning and cables

I would likely use I2S from the DDC to the Enyo.  I am also swapping my cables out of the Enyo from AQ Golden Gate to AQ Mackenzie XLR.

Appreciate your insight.

I added an Iris to my Musician Pegasus (related to Pontus II) using i2S and was a significant upgrade, and many here have added an Iris to their Pontus and got similar results so I’d expect a nice improvement with the Enyo as well.  I’d recommend picking up a used Iris if you can get one around $400 and give it a try, and if it doesn’t work out you can easily sell it for little/no loss — that’s what I did and happily kept the Iris.  BTW, I started with a $6 6” HDMI cable from Monoprice just for the purpose of trying a DDC and was still easily able to hear the improvements so you needn’t drop $$$ on an i2S cable initially just to try (should be as short as possible as i2S degrades rapidly with cable length so try to keep it as close to 1 foot as possible).  My take is I would’ve had to spend a helluva lot more than $400 on a new DAC to get the level of improvement I got with the Iris.  Just my $0.02 FWIW and hope it helps.

@gcknapp  Doesn’t make sense to me when you have  $99 USB streamer source that you would buy an IRIS USB reclocker.. I made that mistake with an Auralic Aries Mini and all I got was increased awareness of the limitations of the USB  HW feeding the IRIS. A better path is spending money on a higher quality streaming endpoint HW facing your DAC like an UltraRendu or Holo Red, both support UPNP so you can stream from a NAS to them using a UPNP controller like JPlay on your phone/tablet. IME 80% of the SQ is determined by the HW quality of the streamer endpoint facing your DAC and 20% by the server software providing the file handling.
