Rogers LS3/5A value

@andrewdrummond Andrew, what you are doing for Doug Stirling is very considerate and generous.  I’m surprised that you still have some LS3/5a’s left.  As I said about, they are a bargain.  Probably the best speaker deal available presently.  I am enjoying very much the LS3/6 pair you packed up so well for me.  I’m tempted to buy a pair of LS3/5a V3.2 even though I don’t really need them. 
Best of luck with the remaining inventory.  I’d volunteer to help but I live in Chicago.  Axpona is coming up in April.  Any possibility of having someone use or display them?

This has been a great thread.  Thanks to the OP and everyone participating.

40 pairs left now, got crossovers for them ordered, some with me and some coming.

Sales trickling along, mostly dependant on the occasional mention in the forums.

A lot of LS3/5a buyers want the original drivers - it doesn't matter that they aren't original unless they are from Falcon, just that they look original (i.e. clones).

You could point out that if the BBC were still using LS3/5as then there is a very strong chance that they would basicsally be the same as the current Graham Audio LS3/5as (which are very similar to the Stirlings but with the more robust 12mm cabinets). They certainly wouldn't still be using B110s and T27s.

Hopefully be finished soon - the biggest issue remaining is making all the tygan grills as I haven't managaed to get that down to less than an hour a pair. 

@parkergetdean if you follow the shop goodwill site, the exact same pair of Rogers with the exact some photos from the exact same seller is listed again, which I believe is the third re-listing since your original post.  I have reached out to the seller, and get no response. I can only assume the previous winning bidders have not paid, hence re-listing.  If mt memory serves me correctly, the winning bids have ranged from 1400 to over 1900.  Sight unseen, assuming need to repair drivers and or crossovers with parts from falcon, I stop bidding at 1000.  Current pair is already at 900+.

my first high end speakers were these same 15 ohm Rogers in teak, matching the pictures here, which I purchased for $495 in 1976 from Oxford Audio Consultants near Dayton Ohio.  Owning another pair is more nostalgic than anything else for me.  

@meiatflask there are about 3 pairs that keep coming back for auction. You are right, people overbid and then don't pay. I stopped at a $1000 as well.

Are all Rogers?   I saw some (less desirable) spendors that seemed to me went lower than the Rogers. I followed, but not interested.

i would think shop goodwill would have a mechanism to offer them to the second hi bidder and so forth, rather than relisting.

i have never purchased anything of significant value from goodwill: a golf bag, a lot of vacuum tubes, nothing more than a hundred bucks.  A big skeptical of big ticket items:  why would someone just drop it off at goodwill?  The only situation I can think of is an estate.
