Yesterday, while exercising I listened to a Grateful Dead podcast where they told a story how their "Wall of Sound" was driven by 48 McIntosh MC2300 solid-state amplifiers, delivering around 29,000 watts to over 600 speakers. Each amp weighed around 130 lbs.
Many of you mention a challenge created by using an integrated that will be under powering my speakers. I have ProAc d30R that are rated at 89 db, 10-200W, with a generally flat response/neutral sound profile. I think an amp delivering 20-30W could drive the speakers, when paired with a subwoofer, or two.
With that said, mono blocs have been recommended more than once, and that's something I didn't think of. I know about Quicksilver mid-mono blocs. Any other tube-based mono blocs you know of/own?
