Humminguru Nova

I like the compact size of the Humminguru, I could keep it on the bottom shelf of my rack, probably use it more frequently based on ease of use, smaller tank of fluid .....

I met Charles Kirmuss at the recent audio show, his larger, 3 LPs at a time machine is appealing, I found it for a lot less money on alibaba

ad says 7 at a time, but Charles says keep them spaced apart so the bubbles can get to the surfaces better, only 3 at a time.

@tomic601 found it thanks! Enzyme based cleaner makes sense as a first step and I can do that in the Knosti before hitting the US machine.

@lalitk well it’s been close to 2 months living with my latest vinyl setup and I’ve been going thru my collection and buying more vinyl. I think this time I’ll be sticking around in the vinyl world. Looking at a cartridge and potentially a phono stage upgrade later this year. It’s been a joy listening to records on a high quality playback system. If the Nova makes this experience even better I’ll be thrilled. 

I think the manual step with Knosti might still be beneficial for really dirty old records…not sure. Will have to test it and see.

@elliottbnewcombjr I’m still researching options for cleaning solution. Everyone has their own favorite recipe. It rivals tomato sauce in this regard. 
I’m looking at ready made solutions - MoFi enzyme cleaner,  L’art Du Son (looks like it can be used in the machine), etc.

How frequently do you guys wash the same record? How many plays before it lands back in a machine?

I make my own strong mix, and vigorously scrub only once, use the manual spinner machine for distilled water rinse only, air dry in the rack. Batch of 10 while listening from a closer than typical position, amazing imaging.

it makes a huge difference to old dirty LPs.

after than, I keep them clean, and just remove any paper lint ...... off the surface, I have a drawer full of inner sleeves I bought, I probably should use them instead of the old paper ones.

Friday, listening with a friend, I just heard some clicks and pops on a Cassandra Wilson double LP I bought new, maybe average two per track, previously played a few times, it’s winter/less humid now, I’m gonna clean it and see if the clicks and pops go away. Put in new sleeves, see if it stays quiet.

I’ve been using mofi sleeves. They’re excellent. 

@audphile1 Yes you have got a good plan for dirty records, Knosti first, then HumminGuru.  I am sure you will be pleased.
