Luxman preamp into Mark Levinson amp?

I'm thinking of trying a Luxman CL-38uC into a Mark Levinson No23.5 to drive Watt Puppies. Has anyone mated a Luxman tube pre with Mark Levinson or similar SS amps?

Good morning Kofibaffour. Could you elaborate a bit on the term "true voltage source". I'm thinking the ability of the amp to double watts as load is halved suggests the amp comes close to pushing the full hous current threw the system. Is this kind of what you mean?

kinda @squirrely

a true voltage source maintains its voltage regardless of the load.

Less robust amps start to run our of ability to deliver double the power with a resistance halving because their internal voltage sags when the speaker asks for more current.

the Levinson basically does't sag as basically doubles in power delivery even when resistance is halved

Different equipment, but I have found the combination of a tube preamp, in my case the Rogue Audio RP-7, and solid state power amps, Odyssey Kismet monobloc (in Khartago cases), driving my Fyne F-702s to be superior to a tube preamp/tube power amp combination.  The improvement was immediately noticeable and significant, in terms of resolution, sound stage, and instrument/voice tonal qualities.

Happy listening!

Thank you Mike. I had my Audio Research SP8 in the mix and I could only go 3 or 4 clicks of volume. Was looking at inserting a luminous audio technology Axiom Signature passive preamp into the chain. Instead I am currently using it instead of the SP8. I have control of the voluim but the smoth bloom of tubes is lost. I've only started listening to this combination but I'm sure this not were I'm going to land. I am pretty sure I will go forward with the Luxman if I have the opportunity. My intent is to use the Lux for a time then move it into a second system with a Luxman M-7 or Accuphase P-500. I have a lot to learn about impedence and sensitivity matching. Lessons can get expensive!
