DAC to pair with Eversolo DMP-A6

Hi. Looking for recs to add a DAC to this unit to complete my system. Currently running a McIntosh MA252 > Eversolo > JBL L100 Classics. Looking to spend under 3K I'd say. Thanks!

Before upgrading your dac, it is suggested that you upgrade your streamer first. I had A6 before and its sQ is rather disappointed. According to thrustworthy reviewers, here is the order of their SQ, ie, T8 > A8 > A6 ME > A6. And T8 is on par with Rivo Plus, which is in turn on par with Innuos zen mk3.  Being an owner, I found Rivo plus render much better SQ than A6.  I will wholeheartedly suggest that you consider pursuing that route with at least $1k worth of dac. That should give upper mid-fi digital source.  Among dac of that range, I would highly recommend D90 III Discrete if you desire detailed well separated instrument fast bass sound, and Laiv micro dac if you like expansive SS midrange rich but a bit warmer R2R sound. Enjoy the music.

Another vote for getting a Denafrips DAC. I have an older Pontus ll and really like the sound.

Honestly, people aren’t always sure what they are looking for. There’s a search for a better sound. These forums help flesh out what that could be. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for when I upgraded my eversolo dac to the Pontus 15th, but when I heard it I knew I’d found something I loved. I think we’re mostly looking for Audio Nirvana and rely on others insights to help us achieve it. That having been said, there’s a lot of love for the Denafrips on this thread.

I also have MA252, and I have been doing a similar research.  I just posted this in another thread - and thanks to Chat GPT for saving me $6K.

Me: Should I upgrade from Wiim Ultra to HiFi Rose RS151?

Chat GPT: With your McIntosh MA252 and Focal Kanta 2 setup, the audible difference between the WiiM Ultra and HiFi Rose RS151 is minimal to nonexistent. The RS151 is a luxury streamer with advanced features and premium build, but in terms of sound quality, both deliver transparent playback that your system will render nearly identically.
