@asahitoro This is my similar question but from what I am reading turning off your streamer's wifi and removing that process has sonic benefits.

@hjdca So, Eero to short fiber optic ethernet could be better than a 25' ethernet directly from the router? Interesting possibility... 

I would like to suggest you buy a standard unshielded Cat 6 Ethernet cable from a reputable source and see how that works for you. If you’re not satisfied, you can go for more exotic solutions. It’s quite possible that you can find better uses for the money.

One other thought: Cat 7 and Cat 8 cables are shielded by spec, which sounds good, but noise then can be transmitted over the shield. In lower categories, there is usually no shield (though it is optionally available), so noise transmission through ground lines is not a consideration.

Regarding WiFi vs Ethernet: assuming good WiFi, relative performance will be dependent on the device receiving (Node, in your case). I have never used a Node of any generation. I have made the comparison several times with an Auralic Aries G1 streamer and never found any audible differences between the modes. I suspect that if you find a difference in sound, it will be marginal at best. However, there is a lot less that can go wrong with Ethernet connections than with WiFi, and for that reason alone, I prefer Ethernet.

@mike_in_nc Thank you! As in all things high-end its just these very small incremental improvements (sometimes inaudible) that add up to audible gains through synergy. The question I mainly deal with is the cost ratio. I think Ethernet will be better mostly due to removing the wifi conversion role from my Node. So I can spend $30 on a shielded ethernet cable or $200 on a new Eero node and short fiber optic ethernet cable....
