I’ve read several positive reviews of Genalex Gold Lion tubes, especially for rock music.

I move between two sets for mine. The 1960's Mullard CV4024 absolutely added warmth and density for me but the original stock for mine was not Mullard, was Gold Lion which were anything but warm. I also have some Telefunken 5965 longplates that are just a bit less warm but add some exceptional detail. Mullard, at least their NOS tubes, are kind of known for warmth and depth so you may spend some $ and not get a lot more. |
@itball I checked Mullard CV4024 out and their other name is M8162 whereas my current tubes are M8161. I am just wondering if the difference between them can be bigger than 1 digit :) |
I have done essentially minimal tube rolling. The original tubes in the L2 were my baseline. I upgraded to the Ray Select and the Gold Lion. I liked them. With the L3 upgrade I have only used the Ray and Gold Lion. I suppose I should explore a bit. The previous posts provide a starting point for my exploration. Thanks. |
