CD vs SACD in STEREO

I started to listen to SACD to enjoy the 5.1 format.

I thought SACD is exclusively used for that purpose.

Today read discussion about sound quality of new/modern/ "better" CD vs Streaming vs vinyl vs SACD, where the SACD apparently was referrung to STEREO SACD.

On a 'numbers' basis, what is the difference between CD and SACD (assume same player, etc)?

What about the marantz new av 10 with 10 separate dacs in it.dont know if that will work but worth a try.it has xlr out for each channel and dsp for each sub. There is a nitch you could develop. Enjoy the experiments.

Well I just learned a TON about SACDs that I never knew: great thread!!!
I feel like I could figure this out if I thought it thru and crunched numbers, but thought I'd ask anyway.
Can streamer companies deliver SACD content over the webs to a streamer/DAC that can handle DSD?  Is that entirely too much data?

Tha streamers that do mqa moa ? Are supposed to be master quality recordings but that's what the one streaming company got in trouble cuz it advertised it was and wasn't. Enjoy the education

I only listen to SACDs in two channel on a McIntosh MCD85 player with balanced cables connected to a McIntosh MA365 IA. Considering the investment I can say that some (only some) equal my best vinyl in sound quality. Others sound only slightly better than a CD.

Considering the price of a MCD85, I could have purchased a lot of pristine vinyl; maybe even my whole collection. But I jumped into SACD wallet first and found limited content available with same buyer beware cautions as vinyl.

But I also use the different inputs on the MCD85 for streaming from multiple sources so I can leverage its excellent DAC. So it's not all a lost investment.
