DAC to pair with Eversolo DMP-A6

Hi. Looking for recs to add a DAC to this unit to complete my system. Currently running a McIntosh MA252 > Eversolo > JBL L100 Classics. Looking to spend under 3K I'd say. Thanks!

Eversolo DMP-A6 master edition with LPS here. In my opinion is a pretty good unit by itself. It isn’t until you add a quality external DAC that you hear some of its shortcomings. In my system adding a Chord Qutest with an sBooster was next level. The combo stopped me from being on the DAC / Streamer merry go round. I agree with others comments, but where you can return if it isn’t a fit. Good luck with the search!

What specific improvements are you looking for, what sound characteristics are most important to you, and are you looking for new or used?

^^ what he said ^^

I just remembered; Eversolo now has a DAC - no streamer, the Eversolo DAC-Z10.

This has a better chipset than the A8 and a better clock.  The Z10 is about the same price as the A8.

Connect the A6 to the Z10 via USB to get all the advantages of the Z10's components including its OCXO clock.  IIS would still use the A6's (inferior) clock.

You could even eventually add an external clock such as the Stanford Research FS725 (which I use) or the NR2110-RO from Novus.

@cbowie88 Why didn't you just get the DMP 10? Wouldn't that have been a better option.

I liked the smaller size and figured saving the extra cash to towards a DAC.

bigkidz    @mihorn More component (DAC + IC cable) will add more distortion and sounds worsen.  Please explain how you came to this conclusion.

I learn from my experience. I know few ways to eliminate the distortion noise. One way is reducing parts in signal chain. All audio parts contain the metal which is usually bad quality and they all generate the distortion noise. Some DACs have >1k parts and noises are so much. Many people misunderstood those distortion noises as a resolution, a wall of sound, immersive sound, etc. In fact, they are veils and masking the music behind noises. Alex/Wavetouch audio
