Slightly off topic, but has anyone experienced benefits from upgrading the power cable on their Furman?  If so, with what cable and what benefits did it provide?

@audiostick I changed my stock cord to an  ICE AGE 20 amp cord, which it's well built to my 20-PFI & didn’t notice any upgrade. Hope this helps.

@audiostick Yes, I have witnessed the improvement more than once, but not on a Furman but a Puritan. I read that is the biggest power cable upgrade you can make, as it just doesn’t improve one component it improves them all, and they were right.

First when upgrading from the stock classic 20 amp power cable that comes stock with the Puritan PSM156 to the Ultimate power cord. And the same benefit in almost the same magnitude was witnessed again going from the Ultimate Puritan power cable to the Shunyata Sigma V2 (with the PSM156). This was with a dedicated line with 10ga romex. I am not going to use any adjectives or descriptors, you have to hear it yourself to understand. And no, I am not going to get anything more expensive than the Sigma- that is enough money spent on a power cord! (bought it pre-owned though)

Do some research and reading- search in Audiogon and read the reports from the hundreds of others who have experienced this years before I did.

But, and I don’t know how big of a but this is, if you are wondering if changing from the stock Furman $10 cord to a $100 cord on a $2000 hi fi is going to yield the same benefit as some of what you read, from me and others, you may be disappointed.

@mclinnguy Was there any reason you did not go with one of Shunyata's "XC" power cords that are designed for power distribution?  Agree that an upgrade to a $100 power cord will do little more than improve aesthetics. 

@audiostick Basically, my understanding is the XC ones designed to go with Shunyata’s power conditioners don’t have filtering in the cable, as the power conditioner does that. The cables are identical otherwise- same 6 gauge for Sigma NR and XC. 

The NR cables have filtering to block the noise going backwards from the component it is connected to from contaminating all the other components in the system. That is why the NR ones are slightly more money than the XC ones. There is no disadvantage to go with a NR cable for the Shunyata power conditioner, just there is no point paying the extra money over the XC. 

But, Shunyata states if one is not using their power conditioner it may be beneficial to use a NR cable for the filtering that the power conditioner it is connected to may not have. 

My reason? I got a good deal on it.
