Coda no.8 Vu metres question

Ok, so to those who have experience with coda amps, the VU meters have two settings, in first setting the meters are not moving very much and in the second they move quite a bit and at relatively moderate listening levels, with certain music can even flirt with the red. I can only assume the first less sensitive setting is watts? But the second....? Can anyone enlighten me before I start to bother the good folks at Coda?

I used to have a #8 with meters and I reached out to Coda with this very question.

Their response and my questions below:

Red zone does not mean danger.  The switch sets the 0 dB point to 5 or
300 Watts as indicated on the front.  At low levels the difference may
be minimal on efficient speakers.

@zlone i see, so the first setting with the meters moving very little is the 300 watts operation obviously and the second with the meters swinging is the 5 watts operation I'm assuming. Ok that clears it up actually, thanks. Something I should think could be put in the manual.

I agree. It would save some time to have it in the manual. Great amp though! What preamp are you using in front of it?

@zlone yes, great amp, I agree. Currently I'm using a Plinius M16. Quite content with this combo.
