The Charlie Brown Christmas UHQR arrived Tuesday afternoon along with another shipment that contained the AP Prestige reissues of John Coltrane - Standard Coltrane, Gil Evans - Gil Evens and Ten and the Acoustic Sound Series Charles Mingus - Black Saint and the Sinner Lady as well as the Ornette Coleman Round trip box that contains the awesome "Golden Circle" Stokholm Vol’s 1 and 2 that was engineered by Rune Andreasson live in 1965. Analog Productions trimmed down the box with this UHQR eliminating the dowel binder and reducing the thickness of the box. All the same good stuff inside though and the gatefold has extremely well reproduced artwork with a matt finish and serial number 000536 stamped in gold on the back and an essay inside by Ralph J. Gleason I should look at. There is also a lot more information in the liner notes on the rear cover that I don’t remember seeing on the original AP reissue that gives much credit to Bola Sete and his contributions to the compositions and performances. That’ll be it for now on this album since as you can see, I have other albums to work through in addition to albums I haven’t listened to yet from local brick and mortar but I’ll make it a priority! Next up is a Blue Note Classic of Jackie McLean’s Bluesnik. |
@bslon +1 Axis: Bold As Love is my favorite Hendrix recording. Was my first 1960's recording I purchased. Had a Walkman 2 in High School, Axis, Scorpions Blackout and Judas Priest British Steel were always being played in class until a Literature teacher confiscated the Sony! |
