Millisecond delay to the beginning of songs streaming

Hi, All,

For some reason the very beginning of every song is cut off when streaming. It’s literally less than like half a second…Streamer is Eversolo DMP-A6 Master with TP power supply. I am using Quobuz. I also have Bluesound Icon streaming via Qobuz in my second system that does not have this issue…

Any idea why or what is causing this or how to remedy?

Thanks so much in advance!

This is not an uncommon problem.  I’ve struggled with it for ages.  I can’t tell if it’s my streamer (IanCanada Transport II with Gentoolplayer OS), or Audirvana, or Qobuz, or what.  It’s extremely annoying.  I think it boils down to the streamer.  But I do not have an answer to offer.

Don’t know eversolo…but If you’re using internal DAC, is there a setting to disable sample rate conversion? Set sample rate to maximum sample rate of your streaming service. If there’s a delay setting for sample rate try playing with different values…increase it and see if your issue is resolved

Thanks All for the replies! Reached out to Eversolo and got this reply:

Hi Brian,

Thank you for your email.

Regarding your inquiry, actually this is a normal phenomenon.
When connected to the backend device via a digital port, the external DAC needs to relock the sampling rate and establish USB audio synchronization when switching tracks, there will be a brief silence for the first few seconds to prevent popping sounds.

Thanks for your understanding.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards.

Now I have the exact same setup with my Bluesound Icon (except using Gustard DDC And DAC, as opposed to using DENAFRIPS DDC and DAC with the Eversolo) and there is no delay…So that’s weird..Sucks but apparently that’s normal for Eversolo😞.

I can’t help but wonder if the new Eversolo T8 does this???

I have the same issue with my Roon Nucleus Plus to Playback Designs MPD – 8 running Qobuz.
A quick Internet search reveals this happens on Spotify and Apple Music as well.

I also have this problem, using an Auris BluMe Pro bluetooth streamer and Qobuz, although it is not micro-seconds, but more like 1-2 whole seconds. It also happened with Apple Music so I don't think it is the fault of the music service. I did some internet sleuthing and the most likely culprit was some kind of "handshake" that occurs each time Bluetooth connects with the device (despite the device saying it is "connected").

I thought it might be caused, or at least exacerbated, by the fact that I sometimes use Qobuz on my smartphone and sometimes through the web app on my desktop computer, but now that Qobuz has broken the web app for Linux computers by implementing Qobuz Connect - we could do another thread on that! - I can only use my phone and I still get the delay.

Have not found a solution, but if Eversolo thinks this is "normal" then I'd be looking for a different DAC. On the other hand, it does support Qobuz' decision to implement Qobuz Connect, which as I understand it, eliminates Bluetooth and streams via wifi.
