The answer explain why i quitted vinyl at the time in the years between 1975 and 1980 where there was a degradation of the material component in many companies for the sake of profit...( my new vinyls gave me noise often) Vinyl material qualities ask for extreme quality why ?

These numbers explain why vinyl is actually under enormous local pressure (far higher than a car tire on asphalt, which is only ~35 PSI), yet still survives thousands of plays: the contact patch is microscopic, the vinyl is relatively soft and visco elastic, and the stylus slides rather than rolls.» GROK

All great questions. I just want to add that the truck driver had Taco Bell for lunch, and the cargo transported was legal vs illegal goods. Good stuff. I recall a photo from years ago of a highly magnified image of a record playing with smoke emitting from the stylus tip where it contacted the record. This may have been fake, but this would have been much harder to do before AI. |
The psi thing with the stylus v tyre, with no pressure, l think @mahgister just nailed it |
