Sum Total Cost Of All Cables In Your Rig?

What is the total cost of all cables in your rig, as it stands today? (All interconnects, power cables, speaker cables, digital cables, etc)

Just a curious question....

@mgrif104

"I’m not going to play along on the cost discussion."

"I am curious enough to understand that I don’t know what I don’t know. So I read. And I listen."

Your initial post implies that your point of view supersedes everyone else’s and continues on as condescending with -

"it seems to me a rational essay on why a listen is worthwhile and that not all “cable designers” are snake oil salespeople"

You think we should except hyperbole as fact. Nnnnno!

Oh, your grammar is incorrect here. You don’t reword an individual’s comments and put them in quotes unless its verbatim. Otherwise, you’re just taking it out of context.

With that I believe you’re referencing my long list of interconnects and cables followed by my technically accurate assertion regarding why I think cables make a difference followed by the priorities I use to choose these components for my system, I then concluded with a little tongue in cheek.

"I honestly have no idea how to respond to faustuss and so I won’t"

You went on for two more paragraphs about it! Your flimsy arguments dissolve into character assassination when people don’t aggrandize you. You’re not astute, just mostly whiny and your only business here is to incite a confrontation. Voila!

@devinplombier Likes to talk out of both sides of his mouth as well.

This is an interesting thread.  Just about everybody is estimating, but most know exactly what they spent on speakers and electronics.

@billsw

Not surprising. If you had 20 sets of speakers instead of just 1 or 2, you would estimate at that, too...

On a audio/music forum? You don't get out much, do you? Well, i suppose you could go hang out with some angelic wallstreet dudes, pharma dudes,  cia dudes, war dudes, etc...

what a fine collection of terrible people

I like to fancy myself a centrist with respect to cables. I can look at people disagree without feeling an obligation to take sides. As long as the parties are reasonably intelligent, as seems the case here, I can appreciate their respective, opposing arguments. Again, reasonably intelligent people should be able to agree to disagree.

Don't get me started on audiophile network switches though :)

It is wil be way  more useful to speak about the acoustics  ASW/LV ratio instead of Pointyng vectors...

But we can buy cables not knowledge...

Cable matter more than objectivist think, less than subjectivist think, and their pricing is often but not always a theft ...

Cables thread are a plague most of the time because the group for which cable means "snake oil only" is offended by the group "who vouch for some costly one" ...

Balzac called it "La comédie humaine" ...smiley

This thread is an exception though, making us focusing  on the system price versus cables price ratio....

Common sense  is the goal and the starting point  here ...
