"Twisted"

Classical listeners, be cautious of this one. Lovers of Rock, Jazz, Contemporary, Fusion, and others, this is for you. This is the title to the only "Hermanators" production, which I purchased on cd the year it was released. I saw them twice. It is likely that most of you have heard these three playing elsewhere on other recordings, as they are very accomplished musicians. I hope you can stream it. It is a top favorite of mine, by any standards, for every reason. A real test of what a system is made of.  Enjoy. MrD.

Just trying to bring to the attention of three GREAT musicians, doing their thing.

Thanks for posting!  Real music with no fluff. Like a good steak cooked on an open fired wood grill. Not a lot of sides or sauces but basic and perfectly cooked. Delicious!

The Hermanators were formed in Jan 1992 by guitarist Mitch Stein, drummer Rodney Holmes and bassist Kip Reed. Though all the musicians had a strong foundation in rock, jazz, funk and world music, the goal was to create music with no stylistic boundaries. The concept was to incorporate the styles of all the music the band liked, from Led Zeppelin, Rage Against The Machine, Johnny Winter and Prince to Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report and Miles Davis, and creating a sound from that point. The band likes to call the music twisted hermanic instrumental trio music. After years of playing all over NYC and coming achingly close to several record deals that always seemed to fall through at the last minute, the band decided to release it's own CD in Dec 1999.The result is Twisted! Mitch Stein has played with Tania Maria, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans, The Brecker Brothers, Adam Holzman, Martha Redbone, Steve Kimock, David Sanborn and Mino Cinelu among others. Grammy award winning Rodney Holmes has played with Clyde Criner, Santana,The Brecker Brothers, Bill Evans, Don Byron, Randy Brecker, Joe Zawinul and Steve Kimock as well as a host of others. Kip Reed has played with Tania Maria, Liquid Hips, Donna Summers, Joe Lovano and Jack McDuff.

Anyone care to explain what "hermanic" means?

Drawing from multiple genres is very common for NYC players, BTW. Hardly a unique approach.
