I met a former Innuos dealer at Capital Audio Fest last weekend. He dropped them cuz he said he just couldn’t rationalize selling that stuff to customers anymore. He pointed out that on a $21k Innuos piece, there’s $9k of profit to the dealer! He was using a Wiim ultra in his room (paired with a $10k+ DAC).
Streamers - Auralic, Aurender, Lumin, others...
Any recommendations, please? :)
I'm looking for a streamer only – without a DAC.
I’ve been leaning toward the Auralic Aries S1 since it’s reasonably priced and available pre-owned. It also has a coaxial input, so I could connect my CD player as a transport. I’d mostly use it as a Roon endpoint, as I run Roon on a Mac Mini and really enjoy it — especially for its great music recommendations.
I’ve read some threads here, and many of you seem to love Aurender and Lumin. Has anyone had a chance to compare them with the Auralic?

The T8 replaced my Innuos Pulse Mini with LPS. I have had to contact Innuos support before and I agree their support is exceptional. Curiousity hit and when I decided to try the T8 I wasn't expecting much in comparison. In the end the fact that it had I2S was the main impetus for trying it out. What really did it for me is the overall sound was more to my liking and to my system especially with I2S. Also, the UI for overall smoothness and speed was way better than the Sense app. |
@mdalton Can you share which DAC he was using? I’m all analog and trying to learn as much about digital as possible. It’s a challenge with all the options out there.
