Isolation devices

A question regarding a topic I have done my best to avoid.

I have been told my system ( and cabinet ) would benefit from improved isolation.

My phono amplfier ( Leben ) has a floating chassis.

Would the presence of a floating chassis provide inherent isolation from vibration?

Hi: It depends on what the mean by "floating".  In looking at a photo of the inside of the RS30, it appears the phono board is somewhat separated from the outer main chassis, but it does show the board attached by a bracket to the front of the main chassis and some stand-offs in other places. Vibration might come in because the transformer is attached to the phono board.

The whole topic of vibration control is pretty nebulous.  Are you wanting to isolate external vibration (platforms, footers, etc), internal vibration or both?  Let the fun begin.  I’ve been doing audio tweaking for over 50 years (former SoundStage!  reviewer and shop owner for a time) and have seen lots of companies and devices come and go.  If it were my phono pre, I’d get some Dynamat and cut pieces to install on the open spaces of the phono board a s well as the main chassis to deal with internal vibration. Of all the footers/platforms I’ve tried/used over the years, two have impressed me the most.  One being the Symposium Rollerblocks (now $~700 USD- gulp) which I’ve used for over 20 years and the other the newish Stack Audio AUVA EQ (~$170 USD for 3) which I also use.  I think the AUVAs effectiveness is impressive for the cost.  FWIW, My equipment racks for the past 25 years have been the Grand Prix Audio Monaco and the Mapleshade Samson.

Vibration isolation and dampening is additive and can provide  improvements  thoughout your system. Major improvements are often gained by vibration control on your speakers, turntable, amp, and all other components.

Virtually all audiophile grade components have significant internal isolation... but it is is virtually always improved by additional external vibration control.

How much value this is, will depend on your whole system. How resolving is it. I recommend photos and creating a virtual system . Then we can see different components.

FYI. I use a Silent Running Audio Ohio Class Isolation platform under my Linn LP12 turn table (a $3.5K device) which was well worth the improvement. Under my phonostage, Preamp, and DAC, I use a Black Diamond Racing platform an springs. You can see my systems under my userID.

Thank you both for your insights.

I was thinking of trying the Stack Audio product as they do allow a return if not satisfied.

I am hoping looking into vibration control will help assuage my NOS tube addiction which recently flared .  Fortunately it only spilled into the 12AT7 tubes which have not reached astronomical prices.

@rivinyl  I'll second the recommendation of  the Stack Audio Auva EQ . I'd also recommend the higher cost Neodio B2s.  Just my take I didn't find anything worthwhile using Rollerblocks, or though not mentioned above IsoAcoustic Oreas.

While you didn't ask about this if you do find a need/desire for speaker isolation I'd recommend Stack Audio Auva 100's or  the model that best matches the weight of your speakers.
