@kevinzoe Thank you! You are correct, my seat is approx 3' behind the box area.
The width is about 12" and 13' long. I was thinking of attaching this to that 12" x 13' path facing the speakers/system

Acoustic treatment for odd ceiling issue
I moved into an older home which has a random architectural feature in the ceiling. I've attached a photo to give you some perspective but here's the details.
This protrusion is 13' long and 12" wide and it is located in the ceiling between the audio setup (speakers more specifically) and the seated position. I've got decent treatments on floor, windows, and walls but I'm hearing reflections, echo like sounds in the upper frequencies which I never heard in my previous home setup.
I've looked at 12" x "12 self adhesive acoustic panels that seem like they would help and I was thinking of running 12' along the protruding section itself and anther 12' run along the ceiling, forming a 90 degree angle of acoustic tile so to speak.
I am not sure that is the right approach and would love to hear from the community.
Thanks!

You might want to give GIK a call to get their advice. This service is free, and they have a wide range of products that may fit your situation. I believe they are also currently on sale! GIK products are not the most expensive but in my experience are a decent value. If you’re looking for significant absorption over a range of frequencies, you really need panels at least 2" thick and more preferably 4-6". GIK has very useful data on their website showing the relationships if interested. They also have a wide range of diffusion/hybrid products as well. |
@dbagstrick Regarding your link to the foam triangular shaped "treatment," I'd recommend staying away from foam as it doesn't offer effective broadband absorption (or diffusion). GIK offers 4-6" thick traps that can be made in custom dimensions I believe - reach out to them. |
