Synergistic Research Foundation PC on Pass Labs amp

Hi All, anyone have experience with a Synergistic Research power cords on Pass Labs amp? I just got a brand new X250.8 amp (about 100 hours so far) and purchased via trade through TMR a new Synergistic Research Foundation XL high current (10 awg) power cable. I let it play for about 24 hours on an integrated amp I have before I installed on the new Pass. I was using the stock PC on the Pass since I got it. First thing I noticed on the Foundation is the IEC connector does not make a sold connection, and it's not just on the Pass, it's on any of the components. It is not firm like my other power cables (Shunyata Venom NR). It feels like a bump could cause it to fall out. Second is the sound. It is thin, no body or loss of bass, even compared to the stock cord. It is quiet and open and detailed, maybe the extra detail is taking away from the body, but it just feels thin. Soundstage is nice and big, but I am just stunned at how thin it sounds. Am I missing something? Is it just not a good match for this amp. All my speaker cables and IC's are Purist Audio (Corvus and Venustas) and other PC's are Shunyata Venon NR V10. I bought this one because TMR Audio gave me a deal on a trade for the new Synergistic.

Just got off the phone with Synergistic about the loose IEC. They said I could send it back for evaluation and they will repair it if necessary. No thank you. I am not going to send a $1200 PC that was defective out of the box, back for repair. Nope. This Synergistic relationship didn't even get past the first date. Sorry for TMR, but I will setup a return and refund through them and look at something else.

OP

Just return it. you are better off with other brands. I for one, like the Shunyata line after a few trials.

I have the Pass Labs XA60.5 mono blocks. I initially had Synergistic. (I forget the level). Then I did a big shootout between:

  1. Shunyata Research Sigma NR v2
  2. RSX Technologies Beyond Power Cord
  3. Audioquest Firebird HC
  4. Synergistic Research Euphoria HC Level 3 Atmosphere SX Series

I like the RSX Beyond the best.

C13 Secure Sleeve with Tab - Yellow

For loose IEC C13 connectors I bought these C13 Secure Sleeve with Tabs. For $0.80 each. It was the least expensive audio purchase I’ve ever made that works very well and I’ve had to use them on a few of my power cords. You can also get them in black. I actually prefer the yellow as they’re visually more distinguishable to see the depth of fit and how it seats in the female socket. Put them on the IEC C13 connector first and press the face of the IEC C13 connector onto a flat surface until the C13 Secure Sleeve is flush with it. The tab ends should be facing out of the of the female C13 Socket.
