Thoughts on the Triangle BR04

I have been enjoy my Triangle BR03 speakers in my small listening room for a year now that they are broken in. I am very impressed at this price point how they sound. Triangle has a newer model that similar to the BR03. What I read is that the newer model has an upgraded crossover, can be bi amp and a single front port compare to two small ports on the BR03. Has anyone tried Triangle speakers and if so, what model and your opinions?  Thanks

I had the immediate and close predecessors to the TRIANGLE  BR03 …. The active TRIANGLE ELARA  and the passive TRIANGLE SENSA models in my $2500 “C”  system : “and $4000 “B” systems.  I enjoyed them both at their modest budget price-point. I have auditioned the BR03 and found them to be roughly comparable.in performance.,

BUT ….when the passives were experimentally paired upstream with a $14000 integrated amp and $14,000 source in my “A” system, that was when their budget standmounts audio performance now stepped up to a higher level.

No surprise here …The philosophy is clear. An affordable speaker with premium performance amplification (and source) makes more sense than an expensive speaker with a relatively cheap amp and source.

MY EXPERIENCE TAKEAWAY AND PERSONAL OPINION

Unless you are also committed and prepared to invest in a not-insignificant high(er) price-point and audio performance strata choice as your upstream electronics , I doubt that you wiIl experience any appreciable step up in audio performance just by swapping in the BR04 over the BR03.

And I certainly would not do it blindly in any case without auditioning them first.

FWIW.
