says included cartridge tracks at 3.5 grams.

I use MC cartridges that track at 2.0 grams and consider that heavy, 

I prefer my MM cartridges that track at 1.25 grams

Anti-Skate is related to Tracking Force, and it is tricky, many of us think it is advantageous to track lightly

much longer stylus life

less pressure/wear to your LP's grooves, especially if something is less than ideal.

IF anti-skate is OFF, it is more than likely 'less off', than when trying to get anti-skate for a heavier tracking force.

You want new for very little expense.

I suspect you are a novice, with no TT/Tonearm/Cartridge experience, so new makes sense, your budget is too low, you cannot hear a bargain. Cheap is not a bargain.

I like Direct Drive, and mentioned the Audio Technica AT120 as my recommended starting TT

Start: elliptical, upgrade the stylus to an advanced shape after ’sticking with vinyl’ is confirmed, experience gained, small LP collection on hand.

A cartridge body with an upgradable stylus requires no re-alignment, simply pull the starting stylus off of the cartridge body, insert the new stylus, factory alignment is retained.

I looked at these, they are pretty lightweight.

The Crosley is the only one with a conventional replacable headshell. and it’s supplied cartridge tracks at 3.0 grams.

IF you go for the VM95SH, it tracks at 2.0 grams. Are you capable of aligning it? 

I watched a Crosley Setup Video, the weakest link is the removable platter, it’s a short tapered fitting, and you can see near the end of the video that it is not perfectly level on the motor shaft as it rotates, not terrible, but not good.. 

You get what you pay for,

This is official Audio Technica setup video for the Direct Drive AT120, the supplied elliptical stylus tracks at 2.0 grams. You simply change the stylus if you want to upgrade to Shibata or other choices, no re-alignment needed.

Interestingly, it concludes by saying the Dust Cover should be OFF during play. Not up, OFF. That’s my habit and advice

btw, check, AT120 has adjustable feet to level it, not all feet are height adjustable

I just bought the Pioneer open box for $299 shipped free- a steal. The TT is important not the supplied cartridge. $250 Fluance also has junk cartridge. I will immediately install a VM540MIL cartridge, The Pioneer supplied cartridge in junk. XV540ML tracks about 1.75 to 2 grams.

I am not a Novice to audio. I owned two idler wheel TT including a Garard 401 with custom plinth and Jelco 750 tonearm.
