How to dispose of your system?

A lot of us are getting to the age where  we may start thinking about what will happen to our precious systems when we’re gone?  Will they be sold in pieces, breaking up the synergy we’ve worked so hard to establish? That seems to me to be criminal.
What about trying to sell the whole system, kit and kaboodle, maybe to a member of this forum? Would anyone, perhaps a novice, be willing to pay for a very finely tuned instrument?
If the system cost say,  $35K to put together, what would a fair price be?

Much depends on the value of the system. A $20k system might be handled much differently than a $200k system. I've told my daughters, who sadly will have no interest in my gear, to contact my dealer and TMR. I wouldn't want them trying to sell on their own. They wouldn't know how and when that time comes getting things settled in an expeditious manner is important. Often more important than holding out for the last dime.

Consigning with a dealer might reduce the commission but most dealers don't have the marketing reach of TMR. Even more importantly, once TMR lists and sells your item, you get your money inside of a week and you are totally insulated from the buyer. I wouldn't want my girls to be tied up dealing with some disgruntled buyer (or scammer) because that can go on for months.

Turn it into cash with the least effort and move on.

When you die,  you’re not taking a single penny or even a single atom  with you..

So, just don’t worry about it....

P.S. If you die quickly...no problem, no talking required...But,  if you’re dragging it out on a deathbed, talk to the spouse or kids (or a nephew or whomever if you don’t have immediate family) about how to sell the crap, if they don’t want it for themselves.

How come no one asks about what to do should you end up in a nursing home or extended care facility.  There are several possibilities there.  You might want to have access to a compact system, say one with 'phones, and select out whatever software you might want to accompany you. Maybe something simple with a streamer, or even just a note so your fam could get something you specify. Unless you want to be stuck in someplace with one of those sorry tv's.  Also, you would be alive and, hopefully, able to give some instructions.  If not, I wouldn't be sweating this., I really wouldn't.
