Audio Mirror Tubadour V Tube rolling

I have and love a Tub V. I have heard mention a few people have done some tube rolling. I know Vlad makes adaptors...and wondered what people have experienced. Anyone have any suggestions?

At some point my  next step will be the Tub VI.

The Tubadour V has no volume control, the VI does. Many dacs have volume control. The ones that do usually state that if you set the dac volume to max, it will bypass it. Doing so with my preamp/amp combo, it ends up being too much volume. Meaning I have to set my preamp volume well below 9 o'clock to get the volume I like, and it is not desirable as preamps perform best between noon and 3 o'clock. It's all system dependent.

This is based on the belief that sources, streamer and dac, always sound best if set at max volume.

Are you sure?  Reading up on the Tubadour line the left knob is for on/off and right is input selection.  Was this confirmed with Vlad?

Correct on the V. The VI has a digital screen that shows the volume. 64db is max setting if my recollection is good.

My bad, the new Tubadour dac I was considering was the Wave dac. That's the one with the volume control. I looked it up and it seems like the V and the VI are of the same mold. Sorry for the confusion.
