I stopped using ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and Claude for most questions because Alexa+ is much more convenient. But I don't use any before I post on a forum. If I don't already know the answer I figure the OP can look it up themselves.
AI and how you use it.
How many of us ask AI before we pose a question on a forum? I have noticed that several times if I didn’t know the answer. I would go ask AI, and post the response, because it looks to be somewhat accurate. I usually do this if I’ve noticed someone hasn’t responded to an inquiry.
I’ve also noticed there is complaints that sometimes it’s not accurate. Funny how people are expecting a toddler to run like Usain Bolt. Give the child a couple years and it’s gonna blow all of our minds.
One last thing, a shout out to the admin for working through, which was obviously a hack from 🇰🇵 or 🇷🇺 and making the site usable once again.

I'd like to respond. I disagree with a lot and agree with some. I started physics class with a slide rule, then calculators came out, much later computers... I can tell you, no where along the path did I loose anything... but got rid of non-intellectual drudgery. Allowing me (all) to actually think... inquire and learn.
If you have access to The New York Times. I recommend listening to, or reading this. It shows how AI can and increasingly will allow us to learn better and deeper... I was a child with undiagnosed ADHD... and learned almost nothing. If AI had been teaching I would have been at the top of my class. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/05/podcasts/hardfork-education-alpha-school.html?smid=url-share

@mahgister I'm not concerned with societal change. The economic change will come first and that will affect the new societal structure. People worry about eating before they worry about other things. We've never had anything except a labor-for-capital economic paradigm before. We're now heading for a post-labor economic system and every theory I've seen has holes. And to keep this on topic, I think the new economic structure will affect spending on audio equipment. |
I am not a luddite and as already said it is marvellous how useful A.I. will be for some but a minority able to see through it and not passive slave of his answers and programming... If you dont even see my point... I explained it perhaps in the wrong way...
I asked A.I. some help «Marshall McLuhan viewed Plato’s critique of the alphabet in the Phaedrus, not as a simple rejection, but as a complex interplay between the older oral culture and the new written word. For McLuhan, Plato’s dialogue represents the tension between the public, communal nature of oral discourse and the private, analytical contemplation fostered by writing, which he saw as a key factor in the development of Western logic, dialectics, and abstract thought» Now instead of the oral culture , i put the emphasis on the spiritual side, on the soul and on the non discursive side of the brain, and instead of the "alphabet" i present the other side as technological reductionism implicit by A.I. design , very useful for many things from medecine to astronomy, but the emphasis here in relation to man is on the purely mechanical easy programmable part of the brain giving rise to habit and discursive process, details versus Whole. ( Iain McGilchrist explained it well in two huge books) At short term there is benefit, at long term too, but the trade-off has a cost, antropological cost and spiritual cost... To compensate for A.I. we need to reinforce human teaching and we need new more intimate link with Nature, if not, we will create superhuman cyborg, instead of informed Amish using A.I. ( some Amish individuals and communities use technology selectively, often for business purposes or when modified to fit their community’s rules which are grounded in solidarity between men)
A.I. exist in the universe already. As servant, as master or as free entity with no more living beings around. As other living consciousness exist with or without A,I.. I want my grandchildren to be informed free Amish, not programmable cyborg... Now look at the way transformation of only the phone technology has created a crowd of zombies... A phone is a little computer with A.I. integrated now... It is a proven addiction by the way...Now imagine the psychological psychosis created by a "fictitious" agent seemingly knowing everything ? Now imagine the impact of not one fictitious agent but a real autonomous agent, what i called in my post above, studying the mathematics of Anirban in Nanobrain, an artificial consciousness not just an A. I. ?
Man must be educated by man not by machine . Why ? Man is a mimetic animal from oral culture till today and it will be such tomorrow except if we become a hive under A.I. control as predicted by all S-F well known writers. We will become mimetic tamed animal transformed into robots.
The two greatest thinkers about mimetic man is the French genius Marcel Jousse, the first and only phenomenology of oral culture. The other is also the French genius René Girard.( probably the greatest modern Anthropologist with Levy-Strauss) If you want to understand how the statistical LLM engine get human language so rapidly; Another French genius the greatest linguist since Panini (Not Chomsky ) described in 27 volumes ( i read many of them 40 years ago ) what he called the deep hidden psycho-mechanism of language : the "binary tensor" a simple geometrical object making visible the thinking auto-regressive process of attention and his constraints on expression and communication. France is dying right now under globalist pressure but it is another story...
