Used Totem Element Metal V1 or V2. Very musical and I was told the V2 has more bass. I had the V1 bought for $6k and loved them. Didn’t do anything wrong just got the itch to try something new. Should’ve kept them for my second system.
Have the itch yet again. $5-6k budget for floorstanders.
Well I've owned around 20 floorstanders over the last 30 years. Ridiculous I know but for me that's the hobby: trying new gear every 1-2 years. Anyhoots currently have Zu DW6 Superfly in my main rig, Wharfedale Evo 4.4 in the small TV room. Have both tube & SS amps I rotate. Yesterday I sold my SVS Ultra Tower (the prior version) ergo gots me thinking, so fun to go shopping, no? I listen to mostly jazz, on vinyl & via Qobuz. Some beats also (downtempo/chill). I used to rock out but nevermore. Prefer to stay under 100lbs; not getting any younger. I do have a SVS sub the SB 2000 pro btw.
Here's my short list:
- SVS Ultra Titan
- MOFI 888
- Dali Opticon 8
- Cornwall IV (rich buddy downsizing)
- Goldenear T66 (owned the orig Triton One way back 2013, dug them, had to downsize for a move)
- Dyn C2 (wildcard, never heard em, wish I could audition)
Anyhoots, who wants to chime in?

@ozzy62 just read the stereophile review on the Dovedale. JA sure dug them. Similar in sound to Elysian 2 you think? @incorrigable I owned Tyler D1 back in 2012ish for maybe 6 months. 5 ft heavy beasts w/anemic bass & kept blowing tweeters. Tyler, super nice guy, sent me several replacements. Very glad I sold them, on ebay I think. Great cabinets, anemic sound, for me. My buyer wasn’t happy with them either. @twoleftears those BMR look fascinating! I’m a big PMC fan due to their stunning clean bass output & transmission line obsession. In fact I’ve owned Fact 8, which led me to the massive Eb1i, which I will forever regret selling. I called them earthquake machines. Going to read up on BMR. Do you own them yourself? If so be keen to have a chat with ya. I’ve never heard Focal or Totem, oddly. Maybe at shows. Never heard Tekton, sure curious, but not at 200lbs or whatnot. Looking for sub 100 pounders. I owned KEF Blade 2 for a year in 2023, only 80lbs. Sold them to my rich buddy noted in OP.

Well, I always hate to participate in these what should I but things, but I will throw in my 2 cents. Earlier this year on the same day, from the same local dealer I tried the following.. These are all $4500 to 5000 new. JM Reynaud , dont remember model name. Very nice, but to polite for me. MoFi 888. Again very nice. Big and heavy at about 100 pounds, to much for me anymore. In my smaller room, with there size , weight, and bass, I thought they would be a little to much. Finally the Quad Revela 2 floorstanders. Beautufully finished, only about 65 pounds, physically a bit smaller than the 888. Much more powerful sound from them then the JM Reynaud. Nice bass, for my use. The owner who is a professional musician, and he sells a lot of other in the music making business them audio too. In this case a standing bass player friend of his, and after looking at the same 3, he went for the Quad Revela 2. YMMV....................................... |
