REW issues - popping, static in frequency sweep output.

Hi All,

I'm using an HP Win 10 Pro, headphone jack out via RCA adapter to the amp and a MiniDSP calibrated mic.

I've read all the help files and adjusted the sound card output to 16 bit which helped but did not eliminate the popping/static noise in the test sound. In my set up the sound card cannot be calibrated and I've adjusted everything I can find.

Has anyone experienced the same problem and solved it?

Thank you.

P.S. Are you using the ASIO driver or the java? I had issues with the java driver.

My first thought is that you only have one USB root in your laptop (that's a USB design limit).  So the USB mic is conflicted with every other USB device hanging from your USB root.

Do you know what version of USB you have?

@richardbrand actually, under Device Manger/USB controllers

Intel USB 3.0 extensible 1.0

Intel USB 3.1 extensible 1.10

USB Composite Device

USB Root Hub 3.0 X2

I think you have successfully isolated the issue to your external USB microphone.

Are you running Windows or another operating system on your personal computer?  I know you listed it as WIN 10 Pro ... just checking.

Do you know what other devices are connected to your USB root?  It does not matter where you plug devices in, in the end, there is only one root.

My understanding is that your USB driver will be polling every attached device anywhere in the USB tree, that is every USB device on your computer.  That could possibly be interfering with the USB microphone input?  And if there are known problems with the Java USB driver you are using, that's where I'd concentrate
