Anyone in this hobby lonely like me and wish they could “hang” with a fellow audiophile?

I had to ask this question. Because that’s where I’m at currently. I created a nice little smartly tuned system that I’d love to play for others. As well as a knowledge base that’s strong enough now to listen in educated fashion to others’ systems as well. I just wish I could invite someone to listen, or vise versa. But all my audiophile friends are states or continents away. I live in a small town in east coast Florida and just don’t know anyone in my region who’s an audiophile other than dealers.
Any thoughts?

Will post system in next post

Thanks!

Now, popup ads, the news, todays' crisis, yesterdays' surprises.

A solitary respite, ones' not-so quiet space to restore the drive to do it some more.

We have our own methods and means to create our own stage where and when we find ourselves.  The odds of finding the other people that you are to them is vanishingly small, as it is for me in WNC doing what I do on a bootstring.

Tim, you have discovered part of the problem in your post. I have organized audio listening sessions locally in Ohio. It’s fun and exciting but most members would rather host an event (thus everyone comes to their home) for listening to their system. It’s not as exciting for most to travel to someone else’s house. And to make matters worse, 30-60 minutes is the most they want to travel. That is not a big travel circle for a small group of audiophiles. The group has to like one another and not get jealous of each others gear. The host must agree to allow 2-4 people in their home and the larger the group gets???? The less likely they want to do that and seating is a problem. Lots of factors can keep it from happening but if you have a mature lot, it can be fun!!

Good post OP. I’m in the same boat and, as I’ve read, so are most of the other ‘Gon members. My mentor, who got me started in this addiction 5 years ago,  lives in Dallas and it’s an airplane ride for me. I’ve gotten some fine hand-me-downs from him and occasionally I’ll travel to Dallas to attend the audio shows there with him. Other than that, there is no one to listen to music with. My other friends are golf buddies who don’t seem to care much about music and my wife supports me but could care less to listen. So I agree with @yakatak that it’s good to show your state. You never know what could develop…..

Thank you.

That is an amazing system. It must sound fantastic.

I am a Linn man myself, but have heard Naim systems with Kudos Titan  loudspeakers many times at dealer’s. Didn’t quite get at first as sound is different to what I was used to. Soon got to love it though, as the quality soon  shone through the unfamiliar character.

I found creating s virtual system here to be a useful exercise. Not only analysed the system, but also clarified my philosophy of audio.

Happy listening. Regards, John
