Tough Nut Cones Isolation for loudspeakers, brilliant solution over spikes

@daledeee1  - I’ll be honest.... this is one place my skepticism starts to play into things, about the cones under equipment.
I’m that guy who TOTALLY believes in higher-end cables, DACs sound different, amps sound different, blah blah..... but really and truly I think Herbie’s makes great stuff and I don’t think you’d really hear a difference upgrading from Herbies under your gear. 

@audiotruth - you may be skeptical, because you may not have a bad vibration control issue, for example if you are on a slab and if your speakers are far from a turntable, etc. I can assure you the cones or whatever isolation you consider do reduce the vibration, it is probably that the improvement isn't noticeable.

I put roller blocks under my phono stage and amp, and the improvements were not noticeable. Under my turntable, the Townshend platform was the most immediately noticeable (and this is used on top of a wall mounted shelf) followed by the speaker platforms. 

Just because I didn't immediately notice the improvement under the amp and phono stage doesn't mean the overall noise floor wasn't lowered.

Just tripped across this thread. I don't write many posts, but I'm really thrilled to weigh in on behalf of ToughNut Cones.

I too saw Jay's video and thus purchased a set of small cones to replace the spikes on my Dynaten floorstanding speakers. I have to say I that I was stunned. Everything about the speakers now sound so much better...bass, soundstage, smoother treble, non-fatiguing, all the more musical, blah, blah, blah. In fact, I had previously had the Dynaten's for sale on Audiomart and have since decided to take down the ad and keep the speakers.

I'm genuinely enjoying my system better now than ever before. I even wrote to the owner of Omega Speakers who makers of the Dynatens, to let him know how his speakers, as good as they were with spikes, now sound so much better with the ToughNut Cones. 

Okay now one miner caveat. My speakers are tall and not deep at all - only seven inches. So with the cones, the speakers wobble just a little bit if pushed. I wrote to Derrick at ToughNut and he suggested the Cylinders (flat bottoms) he sells will solve that problem. And he 's sending them to me at no additional cost to A/B with the Cones, and then I'll get to keep the ones that work best and send back the other set. Or maybe not. I think I can screw the cones into the base of my amp.

I expect to receive the cylinders in the coming week. I'm confident that they will provide additional stability. I'll let you know how they compare sound-wise. Bottom line though, ToughNut products have given my speakers wonderful sonic improvements and I'll likely purchase more of them for my other equipment. 

BTW, I have a Decware tube amp, Herron Phono-stage, Innuos MiniMK3 streamer to a Border Patrol DAC and a Rega Planer 10 turntable with a Hana Cartridge. Not too shabby, huh?

Thanks ToughNuts, I've arrived at the endgame of buying new equipment and listening to the equipment at the expense of simply enjoying the music. Phew! Amen!

@neptune123 - I just caught Jay’s Iyagi video with measurements comparing various brands and models.

What’s your opinion of the Tough Nut Cone vs Tough Nut Cylinder?

The cylinders SQ is similar to the tough nut spikes and they offer the needed stability. Derrick at tough nuts is great to work with. I highly recommend.
